The Fomento Schools promote the development of a multilingual competence. In order to achieve this, and following the European Council’s recommendations, we follow a teaching module which focuses on the development of communication skills.

ENGLISH

Canigo has a rigorous English program based on linguistic immersion and on an intense dedication to the language during the school day. This program is consolidated year after year, thanks to the many diverse plans of improvement in the teaching of this language.

The excellence in the mastery of English requires  the  integration of the best faculty  The school forms the teachers to be able to efficiently use the didactic material which facilitates the learning of these  languages within a local cultural context and within the frame of our Personal Identity. Both the native teachers and others participate in a program which is continuously being updated.

Pre-School

Students begin learning English at 12 months of age.  In pre-school English makes up 30 percent of the school day and is based on the linguistic immersion method, which facilitates the learning of this language within the same linguistic and school environment in which the students learn their own language. The Pre-School teachers communicate with their students only in English, incorporating in their various themes all the possible areas for learning, seeing that every occasion is an opportunity to use the language being learned.

Primary

The English program continues in Primary making up 30 percent of the school day, allowing the students to be capable of understanding and expressing themselves with fluidity and usefulness(oral and written expression and understanding).

High School Years

The English program progresses to perfect the required level, by assigning several courses in English.

Individual Learning - Speaker

A real dedication to the English language during the school day is necessary for a mastery in the language. A key part of re-enforcing this mastery of English for each of our students is to maintain frequent conversations with the students, in which a teacher can focus more individually and more personally on the four skills. Canigo, starting at age three, relies on a native speaker, whose role is to hold weekly conversations with the students to re-enforce the oral comprehension and understanding.
