One more year Canigo School of Barcelona has celebrated the Scratch Day; a family day in which more than 60 students of 4º of Primary did programming with their parents.
The students are the protagonists of Scratch Day. They shared objectives they pursue when programming, the skills they develop and the practical activities they carry out to achieve them with their parents. It was an open class in which parents were able to see how their daughters learn and experiment in a fun way with Scratch. It is also a great opportunity to develop computational thinking and logical reasoning.
This day has been organized with the intention of bringing the projects of innovation technology at school closer to the Primary families.
Scratch Day 2024 in Canigó: Programmers for a day
Scratch Day was born with the objective that parents can enjoy a programming class with their daughters. The students are the ones who teach their parents as they develop a project using the visual programming language Scratch.
This software was developed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) for learning computing languages from a very early age. They facilitate the development of creative thinking, systematic reasoning and collaborative work; necessary skills for students in the current environment in which they live.
What projects are developed in programming classes?
The Programming classes start with simple projects, so that the students learn the new language through experimentation. Progressively, the level of difficulty increases and programs such as games or translators. This learning based on “learning by doing – learning by playing” consolidates knowledge through meaningful learning.
