Canigó School in Barcelona
Canigó is a trilingual charter school located in the Sarriá-San Gervasio district of Barcelona and offers Pre-school, Primary School, Secondary School and Baccalaureate.
The school was founded in 1964 and today has more than 1,000 students. Canigó was born thanks to the initiative of a group of families who were looking for a school for their children that shared the same educational principles and offered comprehensive training.
The pillars that define the Canigó School are: personalized education, parental involvement, teacher commitment, educational quality and innovation, multilingualism, and Christian identity.
Through personalized education, with the involvement of teachers and parents, each student carries out their own personal project, bringing out the best in each individual. The students receive individual and periodic advice from the tutor, who also holds regular meetings with their parents. The objective is to help students to get to know themselves and to guide them in setting and achieving their own goals.
The Canigó school develops different projects in each area and level, which promote quality education and innovation. These projects foster the improvement of students’ skills in public speaking, debate, programming, robotics, chess, entrepreneurship, and STEAM.
The multilingual competence is a fundamental aspect of the Canigó school’s educational project. From a very early age, students develop language skills through immersion, starting in Pre-school and continuing in primary with the CLC methodology (Content and Language Integrated Learning).
Canigó offers a dining room service, which guarantees healthy and well balanced lunches for students, a transport service for families residing in Sant Cugat del Vallés or nearby towns, and extracurricular activities, before and after the regular school day.
The following facilities are available for the educational needs of the students: laboratories, library, music room, robotics room and assembly hall, among others. Regarding the sports facilities, the Canigó school has a gymnasium, an outdoor sports court, numerous basketball courts, a neuromotor development room, a playground with multiple play structures, locker rooms and a children’s soccer field.
In addition, the school offers families a chaplaincy service and access to a Guidance Department.
In addition to the school’s own initiatives, parents can take advantage of the activities organized by the AMPA, which offers parental training courses and workshops, as well as cultural activities, sports and leisure.
Former students have the opportunity to keep in touch with the school and to participate in the activities organized by the Canigó Alumni Association.
