The Canigó School in Barcelona celebrates the 9th edition of its cooking contest for children, Little Chef. But this time finally, in person. We were very excited to see everyone back at school!

This contest was created with the aim of promoting healthy eating habits and encouraging creativity in students.

This experience gives them autonomy, fosters their creativity, and promotes healthy eating. All the participants enjoyed cooking and the little ones had fun.

More than 60 girls and boys from P5 and 1st year of Primary participated, presenting a wide variety of dishes: sushi; Salmon Tartar; arepas; apple and bacon sandwiches; salads etc. The judges evaluated participants’ creativity when it came to presenting rich and healthy dishes, sweet or savory. Additionally, they were especially impressed with the organization and cleanliness with which many contestants worked.

The Little Chef Canigó 2022 Jury

We had the honor of having, once again, an exceptional jury for the children’s cooking contest at Canigó school: Rafael Antonín or Chef Rafa, @Rafuel55; Miguel Balcells @elguardiandelosabores and Marta Queralt @cocinaresfacil_.

A white jacket was awarded to the winner and a kitchen kit was awarded to the best in each category. The judges stated that it was increasingly difficult to choose a winner this year because each year the contestants do better than the last, making the previous year’s criteria obsolete.

Promoting good eating habits and creativity

The Little Chef contest has been held for 9 years at the Fomento Canigó School, with a large influx of participants. It is one of the most anticipated events of the autumn year after year. It seeks to take advantage of cooking and gastronomy popularity and children’s interest in cooking, to develop good eating habits and encourage the autonomy and creativity of the little ones.
