STEAM for Kids at Colegio Canigó

The contest STEAM for Kids encourages the little ones to get interested, within the family, for science and experimentation. This initiative encourages their knowledge of the areas STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

The contestants had to prepare a simple experiment or perform a challenge at home and the result was impressive. We have seen real volcanoes, painted fish at the bottom of a container that then swam in the water! They have also taught us how to build a catapult or how to make a paper bridge capable of supporting the weight of a fire truck. The jury had a very difficult time deciding who were the winners.

To participate, the contestants – with the help of their family – had to record a 30 second video in which they prepared and explained the mathematical ethos, scientific or technological experiment that they were doing.

The STEAM project at Canigó School

The STEAM project of the Canigo School starts at Preschool with projects such as the Creativity Workshop, the Scientific workshop, the Fun Math or the Programming Workshop. Through the play and observation, the little ones develop their creative thinking and they do it with everyday objects that awaken their curiosity and allow them to observe, manipulate and experiment.

We want our students to start from a young age to develop all their capabilities and thus, be prepared for the future.

Furthermore, the objective of the STEAM project of Canigo School is to focus on the learning of science as a means to the good of society.

The little scientists have received a diploma for having participated and, furthermore, the jury has highlighted 3 projects for its imagination, content and presentation. Each of the winners has been given a scientist’s coat so they can continue researching and experimenting at home.

Congratulations to all the participants! See you in the 2nd edition!
